This 20-bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is looking for registered nurses to provide care to toddlers, children and teenagers who become critically ill or injured. Critical care is comprehensive care for patients whose condition may be life-threatening or who may require constant monitoring. The said Hospital is a level II trauma center and admits patients with a wide variety of traumatic injuries, including head traumas. The PICU is staffed 24/7 by board certified/eligible intensivists, as well as registered nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and respiratory therapists trained specifically in pediatric critical care. This highly trained medical team possesses the knowledge, skill and judgment to provide timely assessment and treatment. More than 1,300 patients are admitted to the PICU of the said hospital each year and half of their admitted patients are transported here from other hospitals by our specialized pediatric transport team. Registered Nurse Opportunity
This role is that of a registered nurse who can train, mentor, and provide bedside care PICU cardio-pulmonary toddlers, children and teenagers on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). In addition the chosen candidate for the registered nurse vacancy will be responsible for administering the program; its policies and procedures; and the development and training of other ECMO nurses.
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in California required.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) required. Master’s in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in PICU required and minimum two (2) years experience with pediatric and neonate ECMO patients preferred.
- Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neo-Natal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required.
